Privacy Policy

myASVAB ("we," "our," or "us") operates the myASVAB mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App. We are an Ontario, Canada corporation operating in the United States through the Apple App Store.

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

Information You Provide

• Onboarding Preferences: During onboarding, you may provide your military branch preference, specialty interest, subject areas of difficulty, and exam date. This information is stored locally on your device and is not transmitted to our servers.

Information Collected Automatically

• Usage Analytics: We use Mixpanel, a third-party analytics service, to collect anonymized usage data such as screens viewed, features used (e.g., quizzes started, onboarding steps completed, paywall interactions), and general app engagement patterns. This data does not include personally identifiable information.
• Subscription Data: We use RevenueCat, a third-party subscription management service, to process in-app purchases and manage subscriptions. RevenueCat may collect anonymous device identifiers and purchase transaction data. We do not directly collect or store your payment information - all payments are processed through Apple's App Store.
• Device Information: Certain standard device information may be collected through our analytics and subscription services, such as device type, operating system version, and app version.

Information We Do NOT Collect

• We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other personal contact information.
• We do not require account creation or login.
• We do not collect location data.
• We do not access your contacts, photos, camera, or microphone.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve the App's functionality
• Analyze usage trends and optimize the user experience
• Process and manage subscription purchases
• Send local exam reminder notifications (only if you opt in during onboarding; these are scheduled locally on your device, not sent from our servers)

3. Data Storage

• Local Storage: Your study progress, quiz results, review bank, onboarding preferences, and exam alert settings are stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage and SQLite. This data is not transmitted to or stored on our servers.
• Analytics Data: Anonymized usage events are transmitted to Mixpanel's servers. Please refer to Mixpanel's Privacy Policy for details on their data handling practices.
• Subscription Data: Purchase and subscription information is handled by RevenueCat and Apple. Please refer to RevenueCat's Privacy Policy and Apple's Privacy Policy for details.

We use the following third-party services:

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your information to third parties beyond what is described above.

5. Notifications

The App may request permission to send local push notifications for exam date reminders. These notifications are:

• Scheduled and triggered locally on your device
• Not sent from any external server
• Fully optional - you can enable or disable them during onboarding or through your device settings

6. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, please contact us and we will take steps to delete such information.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

Since your study data is stored locally on your device, you can delete it at any time by:

• Using the "Reset All Results" option in the App's Settings
• Uninstalling the App from your device

Anonymized analytics data retained by Mixpanel is subject to Mixpanel's data retention policies.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have certain rights regarding your data, including:

• Access: Request information about the data we hold
• Deletion: Request deletion of your data
• Opt-Out: You can stop all data collection by uninstalling the App

Since we do not collect personally identifiable information, most data rights requests are satisfied by the local nature of our data storage.

9. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect the information collected through the App. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. International Data Transfers

myASVAB is operated from Ontario, Canada, and the App is distributed through the Apple App Store in the United States. Anonymized analytics data collected through Mixpanel and subscription data processed by RevenueCat may be transferred to and stored on servers located in the United States or other countries. By using the App, you consent to the transfer of your information to countries outside of your country of residence, which may have different data protection rules than your country. We will take reasonable steps to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

11. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you may have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). However, because we do not collect personally identifiable information, do not sell personal information, and do not share personal information with third parties for their direct marketing purposes, most CCPA provisions do not apply to our data practices. 12. Do Not Track

Some web browsers transmit "Do Not Track" signals. Because the App is a mobile application and not a website, we do not currently respond to "Do Not Track" signals. Our third-party analytics provider (Mixpanel) may have its own policies regarding such signals.

13. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES OF ANY KIND (INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO DIRECT, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES) ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO:

• Any unauthorized access to or use of data collected through the App
• Any loss or corruption of locally stored data on your device
• Any actions taken by third-party services (Mixpanel, RevenueCat, Apple) with respect to your data
• Any interruption or cessation of data transmission to or from the App
• Any bugs, viruses, or similar issues that may be transmitted through the App

Your use of the App and any reliance on its data storage or third-party integrations is at your sole risk. You acknowledge that locally stored data may be lost if you uninstall the App, reset your device, or experience device failure, and we bear no responsibility for such data loss.

14. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.

15. Governing Law

This Privacy Policy shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from this Privacy Policy or your use of the App shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ontario, Canada.
